Legal Intern Modern Woodmen is seeking a first-year law student enrolled at an ABA-approved law school to assist its in-house Legal Department during the summer of 2026. Modern Woodmen of America is the nation’s third largest fraternal benefit society with assets over $18B. Fraternal benefit societies are unique membership organizations with peculiar names that pair the “member owned” characteristic of a mutual insurance company with the “social mission” characteristic of a service organization. They unite individuals with common bonds, provide a variety of life insurance and investment products, and form one of the nation’s most effective volunteer networks. Accepting applications until February 1, 2026. Application review and candidate selection for interviews may not be conducted until after this date. You will work directly with Legal Department attorneys and gain unique perspectives and experiences with the in-house corporate practice of law. You will be exposed to a wide range of general corporate legal matters, including contracts, corporate governance, compliance, employment, tax, and litigation, as well as matters specific to the insurance and securities industry. With a heavy emphasis on research and writing, this internship opportunity will give you valuable skills you can use in your future, regardless of where your career path as an attorney takes you.
