About The Position

Westmoreland Mining LLC is seeking a Legal Extern through the University of Denver Sturm School of Law's CORE ELMS program for the Fall 2024 Semester. This externship offers educational credit for hours worked, with a minimum requirement of 20 hours per week, across at least two days per week, at our Lone Tree Offices (10375 Park Meadows Drive).

Requirements

  • Must be at least a 2L (second-year law student)
  • Must be registered in the University of Denver Sturm School of Law's CORE ELMS program by the August 9 deadline
  • Minimum requirement of 20 hours per week
  • Work across at least two days per week

Responsibilities

  • Engage in legal review, research, and drafting related to natural resources and environmental law in the mining industry
  • Perform contract review
  • Conduct litigation research and preparation
  • Work on public policy matters
  • Handle communications within Westmoreland's legal department
  • Address other matters within Westmoreland's legal department, particularly those involving External and Regulatory Affairs
