About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwriting Legal Counsel, Financial Lines to join our team within the HudsonPro division. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in insurance law, specializing in management and professional liability coverage. This role will involve advising business clients on financial lines insurance policies, drafting essential documents, and collaborating with various stakeholders to navigate legal complexities in the insurance industry.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in drafting and interpreting insurance policies and endorsements, with a solid understanding of the necessary legal requirements.
  • Strong comprehension of the insurance industry landscape, client needs, and business objectives, enabling the provision of insightful consultation and achieving positive results.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse constituents, including clients, colleagues, and industry professionals.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving results through collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving, and negotiation in high-pressure environments.
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to synthesize complex information and present clear, actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to support the HudsonPro underwriting business, focusing on Director & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Financial Institutions, Cyber and other management and professional liability policies.
  • Advise underwriters on coverage options and implications related to financial institutions, private, and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Communicate with business partners, underwriting teams, claims professionals, and Legal and Compliance colleagues to relay information on coverage developments, industry trends, and new exposures in management and professional liability.
  • Develop, draft, review, and revise new and existing financial lines insurance products, including policies, endorsements, contracts, marketing materials, and ancillary documents.
  • Analyze and interpret applicable federal and state laws, regulations, legislative developments, case decisions, and claims verdicts relating to financial lines to provide comprehensive legal guidance.
  • Stay informed of industry advancements and emerging trends to ensure responsiveness to evolving client needs and regulatory environments.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining open lines of communication to facilitate effective decision-making.
