A growing, Houston-based professional services firm, G&A Partners is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join its team at the corporate office located in Houston, TX. Under the direction of and in coordination with the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, the Legal Assistant will be responsible for assisting and carrying out duties and tasks across all facets of the Legal department at G&A Partners including but not limited to EPLI matters, litigation, regulatory, M&A, governance, contracts, corporate filings, collections, corporate secretary function, intellectual property, subpoenas, information requests, compliance, administrative matters, and government investigations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working as a legal or administrative assistant in a law firm or in-house legal department is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, (Word, Excel) and Google Apps.
  • Able to work with various software applications.

Nice To Haves

  • College or associate’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working for a Professional Employer Organization, preferred.
  • Experience with CRMs, preferred.
  • Certified Notary Public preferred.
  • Ability to become Certified e-Notary.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with managing Employment Practices Liability Insurance matters and claims and handling all administrative tasks and billing related thereto.
  • Assists in responding to governmental investigations and inquiries and handling agency litigation matters and handling all billing and administrative tasks related thereto.
  • Assists with other litigation and compliance matters as assigned.
  • Manages and updates matter management reports, EPLI billing tracker, project management tools, dashboards, and standard operating procedures for litigation oversight and reporting purposes.
  • Manages and maintains Legal department files.
  • Assists in responding to discovery, subpoenas, and other information requests and all administrative tasks related thereto.
  • Effectively communicates orally and in writing with internal and external parties, including but not limited to insurance carriers, outside counsel, opposing counsel, government agency staff, clients, and internal staff.
  • Effectively collaborates with members of the Legal department, other departments across the organization, vendors, and G&A Partners clients.
  • Provides reports and data analysis on a regular basis.
  • Assists with client terminations and collections matters as needed.
  • Supports other Legal department functions as needed and assigned.
  • Provides public notary services as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
