About the Role: At the direction of senior internal counsel, provide administrative support to the internal Legal Department team. Support Associates with legal matters by identifying internal and external resources Serve as internal point of contact for outside counsel, facilitating timely and efficient communication between Associates and counsel Assist with administering and maintaining e-billing and legal operations software and serve as a point of contact to internal and external users Assist with monitoring and researching activity associated with active and threatened litigation and litigants Administer and maintain legal hold records associated with active and threatened litigation Provide assistance with compiling and organizing responsive documentation to subpoenas and production requests issued in active litigation Prepare engagement letters for execution by outside counsel Draft legal documents, correspondence and pleadings at the direction of counsel Prepare pleadings for filing and process service Receive and timely process Legal Department invoicing and prepare internal expense reporting Assist with administering and maintaining Legal Department documentation to ensure compliance with relevant retention policies Provide miscellaneous administrative support to internal counsel and paralegals Provide assistance as needed and available to the Assistant Corporate Secretary on governance related matters Other duties and projects that arise from matters referred to the Legal Department Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description. May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words. About You: Associates Degree preferred 4+ years of experience providing administrative support to in-house or private practice paralegals and attorneys required. Providing administrative support with an emphasis on matters generally involving financial institutions and corporate governance preferred. Providing administrative support for litigation filed in state and/or federal court preferred. Ability to appropriately prioritize competing interests and complete tasks with minimal supervision Ability to handle disgruntled clients and stressful situations in a professional manner Familiarity with banking regulations, policies, procedures, products and services Familiarity with federal and state court rules, forms, procedures and the electronic filing system Strong organizational skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Proficient with Legal Tracker or similar ebilling and legal operations software Ability to occasionally travel to other bank offices, court hearings and outside counsel offices Valid driver’s license Occasional travel may be required The pay range for this role is $25.00 - $35.00. The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location.
