About The Position

Founded in 2000, the firm offers the legal expertise of more than 115 attorneys who have accumulated decades of experience and problem-solving skills across a wide range of practice areas. We are a vibrant, busy, and growing full-service law firm seeking to expand our professional staff by adding a Legal Assistant / Paralegal with 3–5 years of experience in an administrative and litigation support capacity. This role will support our Mental Health and Hygiene practice group and is based in Lake Success, NY.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience providing administrative and litigation support in a law firm environment
  • Strong client service and problem-solving skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Familiarity with law firm billing systems (Litify or equivalent preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Draft litigation documents, including motions, orders, and post-judgment papers
  • Draft correspondence and court-related documents in accordance with judicial procedures
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain files in both paper and electronic formats
  • Maintain detailed Outlook calendars, including scheduling and coordinating internal and external meetings
  • Knowledge of guardianship pleadings and proceedings is helpful
  • Manage administrative duties including arranging conference calls and meetings, copying, scanning, printing, and file maintenance
  • Create, edit, format, and proofread letters, memoranda, and other documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Request conflict checks, open new client matters, and submit electronic approvals as needed
  • Liaise directly with clients and third parties throughout all phases of litigation and/or case resolution
  • Answer phone calls and take accurate messages for multiple attorneys while managing calendars
  • Assist with additional ad hoc projects as needed
  • Experience drafting legal documents throughout all phases of litigation, including discovery requests, RJIs, motions, stipulations, subpoenas, notices, and post-judgment papers
  • Experience formatting briefs and preparing exhibit books
  • OCR document experience
  • Experience filing court documents, including e-filing in both state and federal courts (NYSCEF and ECF)
  • Experience tracking court dates and deadlines
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with strong organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook), Adobe, Westlaw, Litify, or similar systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a polished presentation
