About The Position

The Buffalo office of Lippes Mathias LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team with focus in the Immigration Practice Group. The Immigration Practice Group at Lippes Mathias is a comprehensive and experienced legal team counseling on business and family-based immigration issues. The Practice Group handles nonimmigrant and immigrant visa applications, as well as related processes including labor certification, adjustment of status and consular processing, among others. The successful candidate will work with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal and administrative staff to service clients. Founded in 1965 in Buffalo, New York, Lippes Mathias is a full-service law firm with 17 offices and nearly 230 attorneys. Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3-years experience as a legal assistant
  • Accurate typing speed of 65+ wpm
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • General office and computer experience
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Experience with editing, revising, and drafting of legal documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to complete projects with little direction
  • Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality work products

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and organize electronic and hard copy files
  • Save, print, and file documents
  • Preparing internal paperwork to open new matters
  • Preparing cover letters and other correspondence
  • Posting case expirations in ImmigrationTracker case management system
  • Assisting in preparing applications and petitions with the appropriate govt. agency
  • Maintaining attorney calendars
  • Drafts and edits legal documents
  • Provide other clerical support as needed
