RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS: Asset Management Legal is looking for an experienced lending attorney to provide transactional legal coverage for Private Credit, with a focus on large cap and middle-market lending. In addition to senior secured loans, the work may also involve mezzanine/junior debt and preferred equity financing transactions as well as debt restructurings and other matters. The position offers the opportunity to partner with the business and other control-side areas and oversee legal aspects throughout the transaction life cycle, including the analysis of legal and reputational issues as part of investment committee and portfolio management processes.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience working in a leading law firm, financial institution or asset manager
  • Strong commercial lending experience is required, with experience in private credit/direct lending preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate ideas and develop stakeholder relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with private funds and BDCs as well as with bankruptcies/restructurings is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Advising Private Credit professionals on the structuring, negotiation and execution of financing transactions, taking into account legal, regulatory, reputational and compliance issues
  • Managing outside counsel and overseeing legal due diligence
  • Handling transaction-related fund and fiduciary issues
  • Coordinating with other control-side areas
