Its location in downtown Denver attracts a diverse population, comprising both traditional and non-traditional students. This posting is a pool for continuous faculty hires. The Department of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences has an opening for a temporary, non-tenure track, part-time lecturer to teach mathematics and statistics courses. The appointment is for one semester, with the possibility of renewal for future semesters.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Master’s degree
  • A Master’s degree in mathematical sciences from an accredited university; OR
  • A master’s degree in any area and 18 credit hours of graduate-level course work in mathematical sciences.
  • Ability to communicate Effectively, both in Writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department employees.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to teach a diverse student body.
  • Ability to develop a clear syllabus outlining learning outcomes, policies, and assessments for the class.
  • Commitment to applying rules in a consistent manner
  • Ability to present in a classroom in an engaging way.
  • Ability to work effectively with students on a 1-to-1 basis.
  • Ability to provide clear feedback on student written work.
  • Flexibility and empathy in adapting to student circumstances.

Nice To Haves

  • A record of successful teaching at the secondary or college level.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Deliver courses.
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials.
  • Design and deliver assessments, such as exams, assignments, and reports.
  • Collaborating with other lecturers, faculty and course coordinators to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
