About The Position

Monash University is excited to announce a prestigious opportunity for an exceptional academic to shape the next frontier of experimental nanophotonics — the fundamental research driving tomorrow’s photonic and optoelectronic breakthroughs. We invite applications for a Level B or Level C (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) appointment, seeking a visionary physicist with an outstanding research record in one or more areas of experimental nanophotonics, including: Metasurfaces and metamaterials Applications of plasmonics mid-IR and THz photonics Energy conversion Quantum optics Quantum energy Nanophotonics for imaging applications Electron-beam induced nanophotonic phenomena Photonics of two-dimensional materials All are active areas of research in the School of Physics and Astronomy. This is a rare opportunity to establish and grow a world-class research program at the heart of Monash’s growing research in nanoscience and technology. We are especially keen to attract candidates whose work complements and enhances the activities of our Physics or Imaging and Quantum Light, Information, Matter and Electronics (QLIME) groups. At Monash, academics at the Lecturer (Level B) and Senior Lecturer (Level C) levels play a vital role in advancing research, delivering high-quality education, and contributing to a collaborative academic environment. You will have the opportunity to develop your independent research program, supervise students, and engage with interdisciplinary teams—helping to shape the future of nanophotonics research while growing into a leadership role. Monash University and the Faculty of Science are deeply committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We embrace inclusive recruitment practices and apply achievement relative to opportunity principles in all hiring decisions. If you’re ready to lead a pioneering research program and make a lasting impact in quantum science and technology, we encourage you to apply.
