About The Position

We seek candidates who can deliver high-caliber instruction in the general field of Earth Surface Processes in both introductory and higher-level undergraduate Geoscience courses, on campus and on-line. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in college-wide instructional activities designed to enhance the educational experience at UF, including the creation of innovative general education science classes with relevant geoscience content, and strengthen undergraduate pathways to professional careers. Departmental service and curriculum development, in collaboration with other faculty members in the department and across campus, will support the mission of building a vibrant educational environment. Applicants are encouraged to describe how they would help achieve that goal. UF is located in Gainesville, a city of approximately 150,000 residents in North-Central Florida, 50 miles from the Gulf, and 67 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, and within a 2-hour drive to large metropolitan areas (Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville). The beautiful climate and extensive nearby parks and recreational areas afford year-round outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and nature photography. UF’s large college sports programs, museums, and performing arts center support a range of activities and cultural events for residents to enjoy. Requirements

  • Candidates shall have received the academic degree appropriate to the assignment of duties, or equivalent experiences or accomplishments in the field may be substituted.
  • Completion of a M.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences/Geosciences or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience.
  • A letter of application summarizing the applicant's qualifications, interests, and suitability for the position
  • A complete curriculum vitae
  • A statement of teaching goals, experiences, and innovative teaching methods used previously or to be developed.
  • The names and email addresses of three references must be provided.

Nice To Haves

  • The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences/Geosciences or a related field by 15 August 2026.
