About The Position

Point Park University's School of Communication (SOC) is seeking applications for a nontenure-track Lecturer or Professor of Practice in Graphic and Interactive Design, with the position commencing in the Fall 2026 semester. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graphic and interactive design courses, with potential additional coursework in SOC's media arts core curriculum for Bachelor of Fine Arts programs. A key aspect of the role involves mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates are expected to stay current with industry best practices and technology. The university's collective bargaining agreement mandates faculty members to teach three graduate classes or four undergraduate classes per semester, with opportunities for course releases for scholarly activity and university service. Requirements

  • Have an earned MFA in graphic design or media arts, an MBA, or an MA in Mass Communication or a related field for the lecturer role OR a bachelor of arts for the professor of practice role
  • Have five years of professional work experience in graphic and interactive design or an artistic position
  • Have the ability to teach courses in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Branding, Typography, Professional Practices
  • Have experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
  • Have authorization to work in the United States and not require employer sponsorship
