Lecturer of Health Science & Human Movement
About The Position
Primary Duties Teaching Teach courses in the Health Sciences degree program in accordance with program needs and assessment standards. This includes preparing and presenting course materials according to department curricular needs; administering appropriate evaluation of student performance; selecting and ordering texts; preparing, administering, and grading assignments; and assigning final grades. It will include contributing to program assessment and proposing curriculum changes, and program modifications to the Coordinator of Health Sciences. It will also include meeting with students during office hours concerning course assistance, mentoring or any other concerns. Student Advising/Mentoring Conduct student advising/mentoring to ensure appropriate course work is completed to accomplish program objectives. This requires the faculty member to establish, post, and communicate with students regularly scheduled office hours each week and more during registration periods (part of the office hours will be spent supporting teaching). Service Participating in service to the school, college, university and profession. Participate in committees, campus meetings, University functions, graduation, professional service work and other related services. This will include outreach to field-based sites for internship placement. Ancillary Duties Participating in recruitment or retention activities, program review, strategic planning or other assistance to the school as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Health Promotion or very closely related field
- Health Coaching certificate
- NBC-NWC Training for teaching a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level
- Experience working with varying student populations, first generation, Pell eligible
- Successful experience in college teaching
- Experience and/or commitment to the use of technology as an instructional tool including teaching online or hybrid courses
