About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering department at California State University, Fresno, is seeking qualified candidates for a temporary faculty pool to teach undergraduate courses. These courses may include Machine Design, Thermal/Fluids, Materials/Product Development, Dynamics, or other classes necessary to meet student educational goals. This is a part-time lecturer pool, with the number of positions varying each semester based on student enrollment and funding. Appointments are temporary and often made on short notice, requiring applicants to be available to begin teaching promptly. Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment, and subject to collective bargaining agreement provisions regarding the order of assignment, prioritizing tenure-line faculty. Appointees must be eligible to work in the United States, as Fresno State does not sponsor temporary faculty positions.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds

Nice To Haves

  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, which may be exhibited through prior teaching experiences and teaching evaluations or other evidence
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Experience with Research and/or Industry

Responsibilities

  • Adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2
  • Preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams
  • Offering and meeting all classes as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid)
