About The Position

The Department of Global Humanities at Norwich University invites applications for a Lecturer in Spanish for the spring 2026 semester. This is an in-person position on the Norwich University campus in Northfield, VT. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching up to five courses (15 credits) a semester. Candidates will be able to teach across all levels of Spanish language, contribute to program retention initiatives, and support student success. Norwich University is dedicated to fostering global engagement and intercultural competency. The Department of Global Humanities is an interdisciplinary department with programs in Communications, English, Spanish, Chinese, American Sign Language, and Philosophy. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about contributing to a collaborative academic community and supporting students in and beyond the classroom.

Requirements

  • M.A. or higher in Spanish or a closely related field
  • Prior college-level teaching experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching and program development
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring immigration sponsorship, including but not limited to non-immigrant visas such as H1B, STEM, or F1, now or in the future.
  • A post offer, pre-employment background check will be required of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting retention by mentoring students, providing academic support, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Strengthening program identity by highlighting Spanish as an integral part of global readiness and career preparation.
