UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures is seeking a lecturer in Arabic and French or Spanish, beginning on August 15, 2026 for a full-time, non-tenure-track, nine-month position. This appointment may be renewable, subject to performance, department needs, and available funding. The preferred candidate will have formal training in the teaching of foreign language and specifically in the teaching of Arabic and French or Spanish to non-native speakers. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach elementary through advanced Modern Standard Arabic courses, as well as French and/or Spanish courses at the elementary level or higher. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses (12 credit hours per semester), meeting with students during regular weekly office hours, and collaborating with relevant program directors on course and curriculum development. Native/near-native/superior proficiency in Arabic, French or Spanish, and a solid knowledge of English are required. Qualifications include a commitment to excellence in language pedagogy, a minimum of one year of college-level teaching experience, and a Ph.D. in Arabic literature or linguistics, French/Francophone literature or linguistics, Spanish literature or linguistics, comparative literature, second-language acquisition, or a related field, in hand by the start date of the appointment.
