The Department of Philosophy & Religion in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a full time lecturer (open rank) position in Philosophy, to begin August 1, 2026. The duties in this role include: Provide instruction for six courses, carrying a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year. Assess students’ work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve their content knowledge, critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, etc. Develop curricula for courses, minors, graduate certificates, and potential majors in their field by coordinating with other academic departments to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of students in a wide range of academic areas. Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions and independent study opportunities. Engage students in research as applicable. Attend conferences and workshops as necessary to remain active in the field(s) of study; engage with the Philosophy faculty to further develop teaching and mentoring skills; complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources. Perform other departmental duties and attend activities as necessary, including attending department meetings, representing the department at Admissions events, and participating in committees, task forces, and others as required.
