About The Position

ATTENTION: The College of Integrated Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County seeks a Lecturer who will teach both biology and chemistry courses for the 2026 fall semester (Lecturer, TL020). This will be a fixed-term appointment. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon the needs of the University, funding, staffing requirements, enrollment, and external forces. Courses that are to be taught will include: BIO 101 – Concepts of Biology (lecture and laboratory components) CHE 125 – Introductory Chemistry (lecture and laboratory components) CHE 145 – General Chemistry (lecture and laboratory components)
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: The Department of Integrated Studies is the singular department within the College of Integrated Studies located on the Rock County campus of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in Janesville, Wisconsin. Started in 1966, the campus has approximately 850 students and offers courses in many disciplines including natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts. Requirements

• A Master’s Degree in Chemistry -or- a Master’s Degree in Biology -and- courses taken in both fields.
• A Master's Degree in a related field and 18 graduate credit hours in chemistry -or- biology.
• Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
• Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.

• Preference will be given to candidates with successful college course teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• The selected candidate, in addition to teaching responsibilities, will hold appropriate office hours, attend orientation activities, and perform required course administration.
• All students, faculty, and staff are required to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater. Examples include, but are not limited to, Navigate, Canvas, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.
• Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
