About The Position

The Finance Area of Rutgers School of Business-Camden seeks applications for a Lecturer to teach an online course in Behavioral Finance, starting in Spring 2026. The cross-listed course will be taught to both undergraduate and graduate students. This position may extend beyond that term. The course will be delivered entirely online in an asynchronous format, and its offering is subject to sufficient enrollment. The Behavioral Finance course aims to help students develop a better understanding of human behavior and how it influences the financial world. The course has the following learning objectives: 1. Differentiate between neoclassical and behavioral explanations of financial decision making 2. Explain how common cognitive biases affect decision making 3. Evaluate challenges to traditional asset pricing models 4. Explore real-world applications of behavioral finance As a required course in the CFP Board Registered MS in Finance-Financial Planning program, Behavioral Finance must also cover “client and planner attitudes, value, biases,” one of the CFP Board’s Principal Knowledge Topics. While the instructor will determine the exact learning objectives associated with this topic, below are examples of typical learning objectives: 1. Analyze a client’s risk tolerance to ensure recommendations are in the client’s best interest 2. Explain how a client’s psychology, background, and values affect the financial planning process The successful candidate will be responsible for building his or her own section of this existing course, which entails modifying the existing syllabus, vetting the current textbook, recording lecture videos, designing assessments, and organizing the course within Canvas, Rutgers’s Learning Management System, in accordance with the school’s guidelines for online teaching. While teaching the course, the candidate is expected to check for student questions daily and respond within 24 hours, make weekly announcements regarding course content and upcoming deadlines, provide timely feedback on student work, facilitate student interactions, offer virtual office hours as needed, and comply with grade submission policies and deadlines.
