The Finance Area of Rutgers School of Business-Camden seeks applications for a Lecturer to develop and teach a capstone course as part of our online CFP Board Registered MS in Finance-Financial Planning ( MSF ) graduate degree program, starting in Spring 2026. This position may extend beyond that term. The course will be delivered entirely online in an asynchronous format, and its offering is subject to sufficient enrollment. The purpose of the capstone course is to have financial planning students apply and communicate their knowledge of the CFP Board Principal Knowledge Topics. The capstone course must culminate with the development and presentation of a comprehensive financial plan. The capstone course is required to have the following learning objectives: 1. Formulate a financial plan that demonstrates knowledge of the financial planning curriculum 2. Effectively communicate the financial plan, both orally and in writing 3. Analyze a client’s financials, evaluate the client’s objectives, and develop an appropriate plan 4. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the financial plan 5. Evaluate the effect of economic, political, and regulatory issues on the financial plan 6. Apply the CFP Board Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct to the financial planning process The capstone course must also cover the following CFP Board’s Principal Knowledge Topics 1. Sources of money conflict 2. Principles of counseling 3. General principles of effective communication 4. Crisis events with severe consequences The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching this new course. Course development entails selecting a textbook, drafting a syllabus, recording lecture videos, designing assessments, and organizing the course within Canvas, Rutgers’s Learning Management System, in accordance with the school’s guidelines for online teaching. The school offers a one-time stipend for course development. A draft of the syllabus must be submitted by August 31, 2025, for review. While teaching the course, the candidate is expected to check for student questions daily and respond within 24 hours, make weekly announcements regarding course content and upcoming deadlines, provide timely feedback on student work, facilitate student interactions, offer virtual office hours as needed, and comply with grade submission policies and deadlines.
