About The Position
The Department of Theatre & New Dance at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in the department of Theatre & New Dance. About the Department of Theatre & New Dance The Cal Poly Pomona Department of Theatre and New Dance awards a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre which emphasizes process and the practical experience of producing theatre. The Department follows the University’s “learn by doing” philosophy by offering practice on Mainstage and Studio Theater productions, various workshops, and courses in all aspects of the theatre both artistic and academic. The program stresses concern for students as artists and individuals. Faculty and staff work closely with students to build a solid foundation of knowledge of both the practical and artistic aspects of theatre and dance. The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas: Acting; dance; theatrical design; theatre, dance or film history
Requirements
- A terminal degree in Theatre, Dance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting student success and the educational goals of the program
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
- Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses and be offered in face-to-face, synchronous, asynchronous and/or hybrid modalities.
