About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona offers B.S and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Computer Engineering, serving approximately 1500 diverse students. The curricula include numerous laboratories for practical application of concepts, and all undergraduates are required to complete a capstone design project. Both B.S. degrees are accredited by ABET, with a primary focus on preparing students for engineering careers immediately after graduation. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates should be prepared to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term runs from late August to mid-December, and the Spring term from mid-January to mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during Summer Sessions may also be available. The department seeks experienced and student-centered individuals to teach in all Electrical Engineering areas (e.g., circuits, electronics, power, signals & systems, communication) and all Computer Engineering areas (e.g., software engineering, hardware design, computer architecture, operating systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, control).

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.
  • Relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
