About The Position

The School of Education in the College of Communication and Education is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers and clinical practice supervisors with positions available as determined by need during the 2025-26 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred in Education/Teaching or a related field.
  • Required teaching credential appropriate for the subject area to be taught
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time K-12 teaching experience or other relevant K-14 experience.
  • Experience/certification working with English Learners
  • Evidence of having maintained currency in the field
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance.
  • Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) is required.
  • The candidate will be required to update their insurance when necessary.
  • Required teaching credential appropriate for the subject area to be supervised or an administrative credential

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in a credential program.
  • Preferred Master’s degree in Education/Teaching or a related field.
  • Experience in supervising teaching credential candidates and cooperating teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Instructing and supervising student teachers during their practical clinical work in an appropriate school setting and providing a written evaluation of student teacher’s performances.
  • Counseling student teachers.
  • Visiting student teachers at their clinical experience site.
  • Observing and evaluating student teacher performance.
  • Conferring with the cooperating teacher(s).
  • Debriefing after observations.
  • Serving as a liaison between the University and the area schools.
  • Attending mandatory program start-up meetings, pathway meetings, supervisor meetings, and workshops.
