Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in LIHTC and/or Section 8 multi-family leasing.
  • Have an accredited housing certification (Low Income Housing Tax Credit Specialist and/or Certified Occupancy Specialist) or the ability to obtain certification within 1 year of employment
  • Experience working with New York City regulatory agencies (NYC HDC, NYC HPD, NYS HCR/HFA).
  • Experience with Yardi.
  • Knowledge of NYC rent stabilization.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Initiative to work both independently as well as within a team while being able to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Have NYS Notary License, or the ability to obtain license within 1 year of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts eligibility appointments and processing applications for affordable or middle-income housing programs.
  • Performs proper calculation of income and assets for all certifications.
  • Follows up with applicants in obtaining required paperwork.
  • Requests third party verifications, reviewing applicant provided information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Runs credit and/or criminal background checks.
  • Synthesizes and reviews information/documentation, determining applicant eligibility as per program guidelines and project criteria.
  • Compiles documents for internal and external assessment.
  • Assists in marketing/re-marketing activities and housing lotteries
  • Performs unit showings, lease signings, and subsidy processing.
  • Generates initial and renewal leases.
  • Completes annual recertification for the LIHTC program.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
