About The Position

The Brooklyn Waldorf School is seeking a full-time Learning Support Associate to provide academic and developmental support for students in Grades 1–8. This role supports students with diverse learning needs through small group instruction, supplemental materials, and collaboration with faculty and families. The Learning Support Associate works under the guidance of the Director of Learning Support and contributes to an inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning environment grounded in Waldorf pedagogy and a whole-child approach to education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; prior teaching experience required.
  • Waldorf training preferred; willingness to pursue Waldorf professional development within the first years of employment required.
  • Experience supporting elementary and/or middle school students.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Google applications (Docs, Sheets, etc.).
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use stairs for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in the arts and holistic education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide small group learning support classes for students in Grades 1–8.
  • Develop lesson plans with clear objectives and outcomes that address a range of learning profiles.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Learning Support to plan and implement small group support classes, including coordination for Grades 7–8.
  • Create, adapt, and organize supplemental instructional materials that support students requiring accommodations.
  • Attend Care and Learning Support meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records related to student services, interventions, and support strategies.
  • Review neuropsychological and educational evaluations and prepare summaries for faculty reference.
  • Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers to support alignment between learning support services and classroom instruction.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with school policies and applicable laws.
  • Exercise independent professional judgment in planning and delivering learning support services, including determining instructional strategies, adapting materials, and prioritizing student needs in alignment with educational goals and school policies.
