About The Position

The Learning Quality Consultant supports Teaching & Learning Innovation (TLI) and Mays Business School by advancing standards of learning quality across all programs and modalities. This role serves as a consultant and subject-matter expert on quality in educational design, digital accessibility, UX design, and Flex Online style and branding for high quality consistency. The Learning Quality Consultant collaborates with TLI staff members and instructional designers, media editors, and delivery producers to support the development of quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning experiences that align with research-based standards, institutional guidelines, and learner-centered practices. The Learning Quality Consultant also plays a key role in the quality assurance (QA) process by conducting reviews, managing documentation and workflows, ensuring accessibility compliance, and leveraging learning analytics to drive continuous improvement. The position emphasizes quality assurance , faculty and staff development, accessibility, and data-informed continuous improvement. The Learning Quality Consultant strengthens review processes, provides guidance on instructional and accessibility best practices, and leverages learning analytics related to course surveys, course evaluations, LMS data, and learning outcomes, ensuring data-based decision-making and long-term program impact and improved student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or related fields.
  • Three years of related experience in instructional design, educational development, higher education, or learning quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply research-based practices to evaluate and enhance learning quality.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and reviewing educational development programs, resources, or processes.
  • Experience analyzing data that tracks learner progress and course outcomes, informs instructional decision-making, and supports continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of course quality standards and rubrics (Quality Matters, OLC Scorecard, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others as well as independently.
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • More than three years of related experience (post 2018) in instructional design, learning quality, or educational development, including proficiency with LMS and other online learning platforms.
  • TAMU experience.
  • Quality Matters certification or related QA rubric.
  • Digital accessibility and/or Project Management certification or related.
  • AI use in data analytics and reporting experience.
  • Experience creating and refining higher education quality assurance rubrics, review processes, and standards for online or hybrid courses.
  • Familiarity with digital accessibility standards, UX design principles, and digital learning technologies, including proficiency with digital accessibility standards, tools, and remediation processes.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional, team-based environment.
  • Familiarity with project management practices and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Learning Quality & Educational Consulting Partner with instructional designers as they collaborate with faculty to review and strengthen course quality, ensuring alignment with program goals and instructional best practices.
  • Provide consultative feedback on course-level learning objectives, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure quality, accessibility, interaction, and learner engagement, accessibility requirements, and Flex Online standards and guidelines.
  • Guide the adoption of development techniques that accessibility strategies by offering resources, conducting quality checks, and ensuring compliance with WCAG and Section 508 standards.
  • Develop and maintain learning quality resources, including templates, rubrics, and guidelines to support faculty and instructional designers.
  • Serve as a consultant on instructional design innovations and emerging quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance & Accessibility Support and coordinate quality review processes using research-based standards (e.g., Quality Matters, OLC Scorecard) for learning design, media, and delivery.
  • Facilitate peer review cycles in collaboration with instructional design, learning media, and learning delivery teams.
  • Support accessibility reviews and remediation, documenting outcomes and promoting best practices in accessible design.
  • Ensure consistent application of Flex Online style, branding, and user experience standards.
  • Learning Analytics & Continuous Improvement Analyze course survey and LMS data, program metrics, course evaluations, and learning analytics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for instructional improvement.
  • Generate and present reports to leadership and stakeholders, informing data-based decision-making and program enhancements.
  • Advance research and evaluation of new instructional approaches, accessibility tools, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Professional Development & Project Support Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and consultations on learning quality, accessibility, instructional design, and digital tools.
  • Support project documentation, learning communities, and cross-team collaboration efforts to advance institutional teaching and learning goals.
  • Provide consultative input on project timelines, quality checkpoints, and review processes to ensure consistency across programs.
