About The Position

We're looking for a highly skilled Learning Experience Designer with hands-on food safety e-training experience to join our content team. In this role, you'll partner closely with our in-house Food Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to build, scale, and continuously improve our food safety course catalog — spanning everything from Food Handler and Food Hygiene training to FSMA-regulated programs. You bring both instructional design craft and food safety domain fluency, so you can translate complex regulatory requirements into engaging, accessible learning experiences. You also embrace AI-powered workflows to produce high-quality training faster and smarter. This is a contract-based role, with scope defined per course or batch of courses.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience creating food safety training content — including programs such as Food Handler, Food Hygiene & Safety, FSMA Preventive Controls, or Responsible Beverage Training.
  • Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into relatable, engaging digital training in an LMS or e-learning format.
  • Experience with course authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, or 360Learning.
  • Strong written communication, instructional design principles, and rigorous attention to detail.
  • High comfort working with AI tools to optimize content creation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ANAB/ANSI accreditation standards for Food Handler programs.
  • A FSPCA-trained Lead Instructor or PSA-certified trainer.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with our Food Safety SME to outline, develop, and QA food safety courses across the regulatory spectrum — including Food Handler, Food Hygiene & Safety, and FSMA Preventive Controls.
  • Translate complex federal and state food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, FSMA standards) into clear, engaging, learner-centered online training experiences.
  • Ensure all course content meets applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Design courses that are accurate, accessible, and built for a variety of learner types — from frontline food handlers to supervisors and responsible parties.
  • Work directly with the Food Safety SME to validate technical content accuracy and ensure alignment with current FDA, FSMA, and, or state-level requirements.
  • Partner with the Legal team to ensure all content maintain full regulatory compliance.
