About The Position

As the Manager of Communications, Content & Design, you will design, create, and manage high-impact communication and training materials that support Black Rock's culture, operations, and learning initiatives. This role is a high-performing individual contributor who leads projects and workstreams through influence, partnership, and strong execution. As the company grows, this role may support the onboarding and development of future communications or design team members. Your essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in communication, content creation, training design, or marketing (restaurant, retail, or hospitality experience preferred).
  • Degree or coursework in Communication, Marketing, Graphic Design, Training & Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, grammar, and proofreading skills across a variety of content formats.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate strategy into clear, executable tools and resources for field leaders and teams.
  • Experience supporting performance-driven environments through effective tools, communication, and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Articulate 360.
  • Experience working with LMS platforms (e.g., Wisetail or similar system), project management tools (e.g., Monday, Asana), and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Slack).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, updates, and maintains branded materials that support training, rollouts, and operational communications, ensuring materials drive clarity, adoption, and execution in the field.
  • Prepares digital and print-ready assets including presentations, signage, job aids, SOPs, and internal documents that reduce confusion and support consistent execution.
  • Partners with subject matter experts (SMEs) across departments to translate technical or complex information into clear, engaging, and actionable content.
  • Assists in the creation and formatting of newsletters, monthly operations updates, and live learning and training materials (e.g., Teams meeting presentations).
  • Supports company-wide meetings and events with communication assets and design support.
  • Ensures messaging is consistent across channels, aligned with brand tone, and easily understood by field teams.
  • Helps prioritize communication and training requests based on business impact, readiness, and available capacity.
  • Maintains team calendars, meeting agendas, and project timelines to ensure deliverables are met on time.
  • Tracks and organizes incoming requests, manages communication workflows, and follows up with stakeholders.
  • Owns operational support functions including vendor invoice processing, documentation updates, and ongoing LMS content maintenance to ensure accuracy, continuity, and reliability.
  • Works collaboratively with Operations, Marketing, IT, Supply Chain, Finance, and other departments to support company initiatives through clear, consistent, and timely messaging.
  • Communicates project progress regularly, proactively surface risks, and escalate roadblocks when needed.
  • Field leaders consistently report clarity, confidence, and readiness when new initiatives are launched.
  • Ensures communication and training materials are timely, consistent, on brand, and easy to execute.
  • Uses survey insights and performance feedback to refine communication, training materials, and rollout approaches over time.
  • Cross-functionally partners view this role as a trusted thought partner who improves speed, alignment, and execution across the business.
  • Executes special projects at the direction of the Chief People Officer or other executive leaders, as requested.
