Goodwin Procter, an international, AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking a creative, detailed-oriented Northeastern co-op to join its innovative Learning + Professional Development (L+PD) team. The L+PD team’s goal is to promote the continuous development of our attorneys and professional staff. We do this by enhancing our employees’ knowledge and skills throughout their career so that they can grow and thrive at Goodwin. As an L+PD co-op, you will support the team by working with other staff members on onboarding curricula, core skills training, leadership development programs, developmental feedback structures and firmwide engagement initiatives. The co-op will work out of Goodwin's Boston office, located in the Seaport area of downtown Boston and will have the opportunity to build their professional network by meeting and working closely with the firm's lawyers and professional staff.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and word processing skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with lawyers, managers, and staff.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative and thoughtful self-starter with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer knowledge, including knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, plus the ability to learn and adapt to new software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of core attorney and professional staff trainings, including the development and implementation of project plans and other logistical support for programs/events, such as budget management, contract management, calendar management, creation and distribution of invitations, securing room reservations, catering management, preparation of program materials, etc.
  • Assist with ongoing professional development programs, including survey coordination, data tracking, and program administration, among other logistical tasks.
  • Collaborate with Learning + Professional Development Managers to research, develop and implement new training programs and initiatives.
  • Assist with the administration of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course accreditation and compliance, including managing the firm’s video library, form creation and circulation, and attendance tracking.
  • Assist with the administration of firm policies.
  • Collaborate with other administrative departments on L+PD programs and initiatives.
  • Assist with the creation and administration of the department budget, and tracking expenses against budget for attorney and professional staff budget accounts.
  • Assist with ad hoc L+PD team initiatives and projects, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Survey Monkey projects.
  • Other administrative support to L+PD team as required.
