About The Position

The Programs Assistant plays a key role in supporting the development and implementation of public programs at NOMA. This position coordinates communication with artists, speakers, musicians, and performers, builds relationships with community partners, and contributes to strategies that engage and grow diverse audiences. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys working with the public in a creative, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Museum Education, Art History, Museum Studies, Art Education, or related discipline)
  • Experience in an arts administrative or program support role
  • Experience planning and organizing events involving artists, speakers, or performing artists
  • Proactive, creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for public engagement
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of public program development and implementation
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and national creative communities to develop engaging programming
  • Coordinate communications with artists, speakers, musicians, and performers
  • Assist with logistical support for volunteers during programs, festivals, and special events
  • Maintain relationships with community partners and collaborators
  • Identify and support best practices for audience engagement and retention
