About The Position

Are you an experienced L&D leader with a passion for transforming learning ecosystems, optimising LMS structures, and elevating organisational capability? We're looking for a highly skilled Learning and Development Specialist to lead a critical project focused on realigning our mandatory training, learning taxonomy, and redesigning our LMS architecture so it fully supports our strategic vision, compliance requirements and operational realities. This is a hands-on, high-impact contract role where you will shape the future of learning across the organisation. You'll lead the Learning Architecture & LMS Optimisation stream, one of the core components of a wider 12-point program driving compliance, governance improvements and long-term capability building. Reporting to CPO and partnering with the Executive Team, HR, Operations, Technology, and Compliance and external legal advisors, you will ensure our learning environment is efficient, risk aware, commercially sound and fit for the future.

Requirements

  • Have deep expertise in learning architecture, digital learning systems, mandatory training frameworks, and content lifecycle management.
  • Combine strategic thinking with the ability to roll up your sleeves and get into the detail.
  • Excel in complex environments where compliance, quality, and operational pressures need to be balanced.
  • Have strong project management skills and can lead a structured, high-visibility programme of work with senior stakeholders.
  • Thrive in a fast-moving environment where you can create clarity, drive progress, and deliver measurable impact quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a full diagnostic of our current learning ecosystem, including LMS configuration, programme structure, mandatory learning pathways, reporting frameworks, and governance.
  • Redesign and simplify our learning taxonomy so that content is logically structured, searchable, and aligned with organisational and regulatory needs.
  • Oversee the optimisation of the LMS, ensuring it is configured for scale, automation, accurate reporting, and excellent user experience.
  • Ensure all mandatory training is mapped, validated, assigned correctly, and supported by a robust compliance framework that can withstand audit scrutiny.
  • Partner with HR, Operations, and Compliance to create a sustainable learning governance model, including ownership, processes, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with Technology to resolve system issues, enhance workflow automation, and ensure data integrity across the learning lifecycle.
  • Provide expert advice on learning design, content curation, and digital learning best practice - ensuring all content is modern, accessible, and aligned to role capabilities.
  • Lead the end-to-end project plan for the Learning Architecture & LMS Optimisation workstream, including timelines, milestones, RAID logs, stakeholder engagement, and executive reporting.
  • Support the organisation in building capability by coaching and upskilling internal colleagues where needed.
