About The Position

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive training programs across the organization. This role encompasses training for all levels of staff, from entry-level employees to senior leadership. A key focus of the role is to oversee and drive key initiatives such as the Employee Network, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA), and the Leadership Framework for the organization. This individual will facilitate training sessions, create a variety of training tools, and maintain all related documentation while working across departments to ensure best practices in training and organizational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Learning and Development, Psychology, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or other related field.
  • Proven experience in learning and development, with a focus on designing and implementing training programs.
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience conducting training sessions for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in creating various training tools, including online modules and in-person presentations.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with senior leadership.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding and commitment to DEIA principles and practices.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Pass agency paid criminal justice screening fingerprints.
  • Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
  • Pass agency health screening or drug testing, if required.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and proof of valid auto insurance coverage.
  • Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points – if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.
  • Represent the agency in a professional and competent manner.
  • Advocate for the best interests of the agency and clients we serve.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, clients, supervisors and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, ancestry, political affiliation, citizenship, disability, medical conditions, marital status, amnesty and military or veteran status.

  • Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor.
  • This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
  • Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
  • Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
  • Preparation of assigned reports, work records, statistical data, job performance evaluations, work plans, etc. in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Training Program Design and Implementation: Develop and implement training programs that address the needs of all staff levels within the organization.
  • Key Initiative Oversight: Manage and support key initiatives, with a strong emphasis on DEIA, including the Employee Network and the Leadership Framework.
  • DEIA Focus: Champion DEIA principles by integrating these concepts into all training programs and organizational initiatives, promoting a culture of inclusion and equity.
  • Facilitation: Conduct in-person training sessions, webinars, and workshops to ensure effective learning experiences.
  • Training Design and Creation: Design and produce training materials such as online training modules, in-person training presentations, and job aids.
  • Documentation Management: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to all training programs and initiatives.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to ensure that training programs align with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics, making improvements as needed.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all training programs and initiatives comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Resource Management: Manage training resources, including budgets, materials, and technology platforms.
