The Learn to Skate Instructor is a part-time position working directly under the supervision of the Supervisor Learn to Skate. The Learn to Skate Instructor is responsible for a variety of duties including; good communication with parents, supervision and leadership of their class, and maintaining and improving their knowledge of figure skating technique. Primary duties include: Responsible for the leadership of a group of up to 15 children in a class. Instruct with on and off-ice classes. Teach and demonstrate the fundamentals of ice skating while utilizing proper technique. Assist with parent/skater/instructor concerns during off ice time. Cooperate with co-workers and administrative staff. Participate in a written evaluation of the employees work once a year. Complete all necessary forms as needed, including but not limited to, accident reports, time cards, and testing forms. Insure the safety of skaters at all times and follow up on all accident and situation reports. Maintain good communication with parents and keep them informed of the childs progress. Answer questions from parents and try to educate them on the policies and procedures pertaining to figure skating at Rolling Meadows Park District and in general. Assist participants with checking their ice skates, including helping parents with proper lacing and fit; and advising skaters to change pairs when they are not safe or proper for level of skating. Ensure the learning aid and/or equipment is being used properly and safely. Foster an atmosphere that encourages positive group and individual learning and verbally rewards a job well done. Adhere to general rules and policies of the Rolling Meadows Park District. Maintain cleanliness of arena and lobby area. Ensure skaters in Learn to Skate lessons are fully participating and work with skating staff as needed. Other duties as assigned.
