About The Position

The Leadership Fellows Program (LFP) is a full-time position that prepares you for a career at Fairfield University. It involves a series of three cross-functional assignments within University business operations, namely, Academics, Advancement, Enrollment, ITS, Marketing, and Human Resources. During this two-year program, you will also participate in one or more formal leadership training and development programs as well as mentoring to supplement the work experience. During each of the rotations, you will work with assigned supervisors on tasks and projects that help you gain valuable skills while learning how each function contributes to the performance of the University and successful student outcomes. These projects will involve analyzing data, troubleshooting and solving problems with existing processes, and providing support with new initiatives related to the University’s systems, infrastructure, regulatory environment, and strategic growth initiatives. The LFP combines individual and team-based work assignments, providing an immersive experience with critical business processes and related workflows. During the program, participants will have an opportunity to work with senior leadership, interface with internal and external customers, and build productive relationships with University employees, functions, and vendors. Upon successfully completing the program, you may be considered for continued employment opportunities, including positions within the sponsoring departments or other relevant openings that match your qualifications and interests.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's or master’s degree from Fairfield University.
  • This position is only open to Fairfield University students who have graduated in December 2025 or will graduate in May 2026, at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of cognizant supervision, gain practical hands-on experience in the function by learning operations from subject matter experts, performing assigned tasks, and collaborating with team members on projects.
  • Become familiar with and utilize business processes, technologies, and systems used in the function as appropriate.
  • Periodically meet with assigned mentor(s) to discuss assignments, insights, and progress made in learning and mastering skills, as well as any challenges or impediments encountered with the program.
  • Attend meetings and events to develop strong relationships and connections with other divisions of the University, its leaders, employees, customers, and vendors
  • Complete assigned training modules and development programs.
  • At the end of each rotational assignment, write a summary report outlining the projects and assignments completed, key learnings, skills acquired, and a self-assessment of performance and progress in the program.
  • Meet with supervision to discuss the program, work impressions, and overall performance, including strengths and development opportunities, prior to moving to the next rotational assignment.
  • Performs such other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate.
