About The Position

It is an exciting time at the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) as we continue to undertake our mission. We know that creating long-term solutions to food security requires more than meals. It requires education, training, and collaboration. We are expanding in multiple ways: providing food for today and addressing the root causes of hunger by partnering with organizations that provide critical services like job training programs, health care, and education. The Lead Warehouse Associate assists the Warehouse Operations Manager in the successful operation of the warehouse by performing various duties. This includes unloading trucks of new product, putting away product received in designated locations, maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in the warehouse, pulling product to fulfill items requested for transfer orders, loading pallets of product being sent out on transfers, maintaining accurate inventory levels by completing regular inventory counts with a goal of no less than 95% accuracy, and ensuring product is secured by safely stacking and shrink wrapping to the pallet. The role requires following company policies related to safety and security, having excellent customer service and motivational skills to interact with CAFB staff professionally, and experience working with diverse populations including persons with special needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum HS diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 – 2 yrs. experience in a warehouse environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse group of people
  • Strong Leadership and management skills especially effective communication and teamwork skills across departments to meet goals and complete tasks on time
  • Possess the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems as well as implement improvements to processes and established systems
  • Excellent customer service and motivational skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations including persons with special needs

Responsibilities
