About The Position

Provides coordination of the Triage Center, which serves children and adolescents with safety and placement needs. The position also provides task supervision and accountability to staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • Experience serving children/adolescents in out-of-home placement preferred.
  • Ability to provide on-call coverage.
  • Knowledge and skills in the needs of neglected, abused, and exploited children; family functioning; child development; child welfare issues and services; and advocating for families and children.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions in crisis situations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than three points.
  • Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.
  • Completion of a defensive driver training class.
  • Ability to provide hands-on caregiving, including to infants and small children.
  • Ability to type and perform other office skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty-five pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site coordination of program activities and collaboration with Project Harmony, Child Protective Services, law enforcement, and CSI staff.
  • Supervise and care for children/adolescents awaiting placement or otherwise in need of Triage Center services.
  • Advocate for the best interests of children served, especially regarding placement decisions. Assist with gathering information to assess the safety and permanency needs of each child/youth and communicate with law enforcement and Child Protective Services personnel.
  • Complete required documentation of client and program activities.
  • When necessary, coordinate medical examinations for those in care and assist in the coordination of forensic interviews.
  • Facilitate positive transitions into out-of-home placements.
  • Organize, clean, and assist in the daily maintenance of the Triage Center.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Complete training necessary to perform position and necessary for professional growth.
  • Work in partnership with Project Harmony, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement personnel.
