About The Position

Lead Transporter Location: Mercy Hospital - A Member of Catholic Health Join a mission-driven team at Mercy Hospital, a 375-bed not-for-profit hospital known for compassionate care that treats the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. We're looking for a dedicated Lead Transporter to support and guide our patient transport team while ensuring the safe, timely, and compassionate movement of patients and supplies throughout the hospital.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience required.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting required.
Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee daily patient transport activities to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service.
Safely and efficiently transport patients and medical supplies to and from the Radiology Department and other areas.
Support and assist technologists with patient transfers to and from imaging tables.
Ensure the proper handling and transport of IV pumps/poles, oxygen tanks, and patient charts.
Provide guidance and training to new or junior transport staff as needed.
Maintain clear communication with clinical staff to prioritize transport requests.
Monitor transport schedules to minimize patient wait times and support departmental goals.
Foster a safe, calm, and supportive environment for patients during transport.
Assist with general messenger duties when needed.
