About The Position

As Traffic Safety Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for the oversight of assigned projects including but not limited to budget, purchases and inventory. You will also develop, prepare and deliver special reports and presentations as well as perform analysis and recommend program guidelines, policies and procedures. This position administers state and federal transportation funded programs in a division or metropolitan district. Oversees contracts/grants/projects/programs/lettings to include: application, approval, procurement, payments, monitoring, audits, investigations, and close-out. Serves as a lead worker. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and special interest groups. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
  • 5 years grant funding administration, planning, budgeting, or working with state or federal funding. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Extensive knowledge of: Program/project planning, development, and management methodologies, Traffic safety programs, Budgeting methods and procedures, Applicable contract, grant, funding, project, program processes, policies and procedures, Applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Considerable knowledge of: Developing, interpreting, and implementing programs., Applicable computer systems and applications
  • Expert skill in: Establishing plans and setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results; anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks, Scheduling work assignments, Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external, Monitoring the status and progress of projects, Overseeing and coordinating projects and program activities, Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others, Coordinating and scheduling activities/resources, Evaluating products, equipment and material, Developing and giving presentations, Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a lead worker
  • Consults and coordinates activities with Department employees, state, federal, local entities, regulatory agencies and special interest groups on programs.
  • Leads, schedules and assigns the work of others; assists with the performance planning and review process.
  • Maintains detailed program and project records.
  • Participates in short-range and strategic planning
  • Serves as liaison and contact in area(s) of expertise.
  • Serves as a project leader.
  • Prepares and makes presentations, coordinates and conducts meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences.
  • Represents the Department at various national, state and local committee and task force meetings.
  • Trains Department employees and/or others in program implementation.
  • Monitors procurement of equipment, checks against specification.
  • Oversees and coordinates the development and distribution of information.
  • Plans, develops and recommends program guidelines, policies, procedures, enhancements and methodologies.
  • Prepares and evaluates program progress and cost/benefits analysis reports.
  • Writes internal & external correspondence, reports, lists, forms, updates and memos concerning.
  • Monitors payments, procedures and/or projects including site visits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Processes data for input; maintains and verifies reports; and/or establishes and updates records.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
