About The Position

Lead Test & Evaluation Engineer (Test Instrumentation) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is currently seeking a Senior Test and Evaluation Engineer to join our team in Berkeley, MO. This position will require advanced knowledge and experience in electronic design related to instrumentation data acquisition, transmission, display, and storage in support of end-user requirements in both flight and laboratory test environments. The successful candidate will pursue solutions to complex data acquisition requirements that often push state-of-art capability. Lead candidate will own end-to-end electronic design and integration for flight-qualified Special Flight Test Instrumentation (SFTI) hardware developed in-house, including analog and digital circuit design, FPGA and embedded microcontroller/microprocessor development, power supply and enclosure design, PCB layout, prototyping, debugging of engineering models, and verification testing. Responsibilities include defining electronic architecture, performing modeling and circuit analysis, authoring test procedures, conducting internal and supplier design reviews, and coordinating installation for airborne enclosures. The role requires hands-on development of firmware and software, electronic simulation and trade studies, EMI/EMC and environmental considerations for flight hardware, and mentoring or leading cross-functional teams through design verification to flight readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 10+ years’ experience with the design, development, and integration of complex electronic systems or subsystems
  • 10+ years’ experience with planning, operation and troubleshooting of instrumentations and data acquisition systems

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years’ experience in general analog electronic circuit design: specifically, ruggedized power electronics design (power supplies, EMI filters, ect.)

Responsibilities

  • Develops and documents standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity
  • Leads the development of test procedures
  • Applies lessons learned to the improvement of test procedures
  • Designs calibration system/test fixtures
  • Develops data processing tools and algorithms
  • Generates calibration procedures and software
  • Guides others in the design of test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements
  • Oversees debriefing of the test team
  • Leads the analysis, processing and formatting of data to customer requirements
  • Approves test data prior to delivery to customer
  • Formulates expectations for test data based on historical data
  • Performs functions as required to ensure calibration system readiness and data validity
  • Trains others
  • Works under minimal direction
  • Tests and validate Special Test Equipment (STE) to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Troubleshoot and solve hardware failures encountered during STE validations
