About The Position

North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Teller serving the Wake Forest Office. The Lead Teller represents the bank to the customer in a courteous, professional manner, by providing prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing financial transactions.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of previous teller experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong analytical ability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and the Internet, or equivalent software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining and balancing a teller cash drawer.
  • Identifies and reports on possible fraudulent or suspicious activity.
  • Ensures the office cash is reconciled to the general ledger daily. Researches and corrects account posting errors.
  • Performs vault teller duties, including maintaining reserve supply, buying and selling cash to and from tellers, ATM, and ATM balancing and replenishment.
  • Enters customer transactions, including deposits, loan payments, account transfers, into the teller system to record transactions and issues a validated receipt upon request in accordance with bank policy.
  • Ensures all teller reports and logs are completed with all the required information. Assist in the completion of office monthly and quarterly self-audits.
  • Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, examines for endorsement and negotiability.
  • Cashes checks, savings withdrawals and redeem bonds upon verification of negotiability, identification, account alert messages, signatures and account balances according to bank policy, within limits, and obtaining further authorization as required.
  • Place holds on accounts in accordance with bank policy and compliance regulations.
  • Processes deposits from night depository, mail, and courier bag transactions in accordance with bank policy and procedures.
  • Provides general guidance and approvals to tellers, cross-training, and provides performance feedback to the Relationship Banking Manager.
  • Issues official checks, instant issue debit cards and sells gift cards in accordance with bank policy and procedures.
  • Assist with customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person to include, but not limited to: Online banking password resets, ordering customer checks upon request, accepting and preparing stop payment requests.
  • Collects and enters information required to complete a Currency Transaction Report and Monetary Instrument Log when necessary.
  • Identifies referral opportunities and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Scans teller work for overnight posting to customer accounts.
  • Admits customers into safe deposit box in accordance with bank policy and procedures.
  • Assists management to ensure Office Security Binder and Red Binders are complete with updated forms and information.
  • Basic knowledge of bank products and services to answer customer inquiries.
  • May assist management with daily report monitoring of DDA, Savings and DepositScan limit exceptions.
  • Prepares documentation for wire transfer request within assigned limits.
  • Attends or participates in regular meetings or training sessions to continue growth in products, relationship building, service, policy, procedures, and compliance regulations.
  • Provides back up for Relationship Banking Specialist duties when required
