About The Position

An opening exists for a Lead Telecommunicator public safety dispatchers who receive 911 emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and initiate the appropriate police, ambulance, or fire response the use of a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. Our hires are the initial point of contact with the public and make decisions according to standard operating procedures (SOP), training, and industry-standard protocols. Supervises telecommunicators within assigned scope in the absence of the shift supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree required.
  • Must meet minimum requirements as a certified telecommunicator, including active certifications in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), emergency medical dispatching (EMD), emergency police dispatching (EPD), and emergency fire dispatching (EFD).
  • Must be certified through CLEAN/NCIC.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided dispatch (CAD) required.
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, techniques, and practices of public safety communications environment.
  • Knowledge of police, fire, emergency medical service, and emergency management operations.
  • One year’s experience at telecommunicator.
  • Established work history consisting of demonstrated on-the-job dependability, reliability, satisfactory performance, and versatility.
  • Capacity and comfort to evaluate performance, address concerns, and maintain teamwork and efficient operations of shift within assigned scope

Responsibilities

  • Supervises telecommunicators within assigned scope in the absence of the shift supervisor.
