About The Position

SVT Lead Fleet Technician is a professional responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on a fleet of vehicles, which can include cars, trucks, vans, buses, or specialized vehicles used by an organization. This role typically involves a higher level of expertise and responsibility compared to regular fleet technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree or vocational certification in automotive technology is preferred.
  • 7 years of experience as a fleet technician or in a similar role, demonstrating progressively increasing responsibilities and technical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electronics, and diagnostics tools.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic systems and software used in modern vehicles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in maintaining records and inventory.
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to mentor and guide junior technicians.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and external vendors.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass post offer drug test, physical and background check.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of vehicles in the fleet, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and direction to junior fleet technicians, assisting them with complex repairs and troubleshooting. Coordinate and assign tasks to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of vehicle systems and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including details of services performed, parts used, and any additional notes that could aid in future diagnostics.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies. Ensure that all repairs and maintenance activities are performed in compliance with relevant safety standards.
  • Fleet Optimization: Collaborate with fleet managers to develop and implement maintenance schedules, service plans, and strategies to optimize the performance and longevity of vehicles.
  • Training: Stay updated on the latest advancements in vehicle technology and repair techniques. Provide training and guidance to other fleet technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to breakdowns, accidents, and other emergencies promptly. Perform on-site repairs when necessary to minimize downtime and keep the fleet operational.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with fleet managers, team members, and other departments to report progress, recommend improvements, and discuss maintenance needs.
