About The Position

Optum Tech is a global leader in health care innovation, developing cutting-edge solutions to improve health and the health system. This role contributes to solving complex health care challenges through advanced data analytics, AI, and cybersecurity. The Lead Technical Product Manager is accountable for the delivery of large-scale PBM modernization initiatives, including Claims, Eligibility, Source-of-Truth platforms, cloud migration, and legacy decommissioning. The position focuses on achieving measurable outcomes in cost reduction, risk mitigation, resiliency, and time-to-value. This role involves leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, multi-year PBM modernization programs for Optum Rx’s core processing platforms, orchestrating cross-functional delivery across various initiatives like Claims SOT, Eligibility SOT, RxClaim modernization, cloud migration, and regulatory initiatives (e.g., F6) to ensure predictable execution, transparency, and business outcomes at scale. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience
  • 4+ years of experience in IT software engineering delivery
  • 4+ years of experience with Agile methodologies, backlog management, and iterative product development as role is responsible for user experience, non-user function, and functional specifications for the product
  • 2+ years of AI experience with AI frameworks and services for decision-making, automation, and efficiency improvements, and understanding of AI governance, ethical AI practices, and compliance requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Proven understanding of the healthcare system (authorizations, claims, eligibility, referrals, provider, etc.) in the Optum Tech environments
  • Experience and skills in relationship management and active listening as candidate will be responsible for developing relationships with business and technology partners
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills for articulating product vision and outcome-based roadmap aligned with business objectives and modernization goals

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain integrated program plans, milestones, and dependency maps across Claims, Eligibility, and platform modernization initiatives
  • Drive execution across multiple workstreams using agile and hybrid delivery models
  • Track and report program health, risks, issues, and dependencies to executive stakeholders
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams spanning engineering, product, architecture, operations, data, and compliance
  • Drive alignment, resolve blockers, and manage inter-program dependencies
  • Manage program financials, forecasts, and benefits realization
  • Identify and mitigate delivery, operational, and technology risks
  • Accelerate initiatives such as F6, cloud migrations, and SOT adoption
  • Support reduction of legacy footprint and measurable cost savings
  • Define and track KPIs tied to schedule predictability, quality, resiliency, and business impact
