About The Position

Lead Teacher Upper Elementary Division Second Grade – Sixth Grade Position Overview Lead teachers at Trinity School are inquisitive, nurturing, fun-loving, flexible, and creative. They model lifelong learning for their colleagues and students. They involve themselves in areas of the School beyond their classroom walls. The Lead Teacher is responsible for guiding the Associate Teacher to understand and meet his/her responsibilities and update the Division Head on progress and growth. The Lead Teacher is responsible for fulfilling all of their responsibilities in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the School.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or a specific subject area
  • Georgia State Teaching Certificate/License or equivalent from another state (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Knows the curriculum (subject-specific, if applicable) of the grade level being taught and of those above and below it
  • Effectively uses best practices in teaching and learning to design and deliver instruction
  • Presents well-planned lessons and has the ability to shift in the moment with child-initiated ideas; ability to apply differentiated teaching methods
  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of each child’s performance and progress, including the My Learning digital portfolio
  • Models appropriate behavior for students and is able to effectively engage children in learning and practicing appropriate behavior
  • Understands and supports developmental benchmarks academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally
  • Uses technology instructionally with an understanding of Apple products, interactive whiteboards, Google docs, and Microsoft products; understands responsible digital citizenship
  • Communicates proficiently in oral and written forms to all constituents
  • Maintains an organized, pleasant, and inviting learning environment
  • Collaborates with team members for effective planning, communication, and implementation, including between base teachers and Specialists
  • Collaborates with colleagues and staff to support the school community
  • Initiates and actively participates in professional development opportunities
  • Participates in associated duties such as carpool, lunch, and recess
  • Manages and supports the work and development of Associate Teachers
  • Takes initiative to fulfill typical responsibilities and demonstrates willingness to problem solve atypical situations
  • Other duties as assigned
