About The Position

The Goddard School® in Alexandria (Old Town) is building a high-expectation, high-support school environment and is seeking a professional, dependable, and nurturing Lead Teacher for our Infant/Toddler program. This is not a babysitting role. We are a premium early childhood school focused on strong curriculum, consistent routines, and exceptional parent communication. You will be supported daily by dedicated Program Managers who are actively involved in classrooms—coaching, guiding, and helping you succeed. If you want to work in a structured, professional environment where standards are high and support is real—we want to speak with you. This is a new phase of the school with clear expectations, strong leadership, and real classroom support. Requirements

  • Experience with infants or toddlers in a licensed childcare setting
  • Strong reliability (attendance and punctuality are non-negotiable)
  • Ability to manage a classroom independently
  • Comfortable with daily parent communication
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, sitting, and active engagement

Nice To Haves

  • CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education
  • 1–3 years of experience
  • Familiarity with Virginia licensing

Responsibilities

  • Lead an Infant/Toddler classroom with full ownership of routines, safety, and environment
  • Create a calm, nurturing, and structured classroom culture
  • Maintain strong classroom management using positive guidance
  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities aligned with our curriculum
  • Observe and document developmental milestones
  • Individualize care and learning based on each child
  • Build strong, professional relationships with families
  • Provide consistent daily updates
  • Handle parent questions confidently and professionally
  • Follow all licensing, health, and safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized classroom at all times
  • Provide active supervision
