About The Position

L3Harris’ Aerojet Rocketdyne segment is seeking a Statistician to join our Canoga Park, CA. Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics for space launch, missile defense, and tactical missile and armament customers through domestic markets. The Statistician will apply statistical methods to a diverse product line and collaborates with other statisticians, engineers, and managers to provide statistics expertise for various engineering, operations, and business applications. The role requires ingenuity and creativity to solve complex problems while meeting delivery commitments despite obstacles and constraints. The Statistician will exercise considerable latitude and sound business judgment in determining the necessary scope of statistical work and in defining technical objectives and solutions. They are expected to fully understand customer requirements and expectations, develop robust plans, and produce deliverables with first-time quality. Additionally, the Statistician will communicate analysis approaches and results to a non-statistical audience and present or support reviews such as design reviews, engineering review boards, and Flight Readiness Reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Statistics is preferred
  • B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics is preferred
  • Experience with statistical software packages such as Minitab, SAS, JMP, @Risk, R, Python, and/or others
  • Technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Bayesian methods
  • ASQ Certified Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced techniques to meet program needs, while also supporting program execution.
  • Expert knowledge and promote application of reliability and system safety throughout the enterprise.
  • Direct the work within the discipline and function as a key customer interface.
  • Provide expertise to less experienced statisticians across a wide range of programs throughout the enterprise.
  • Lead technical review of statistical analysis products.
  • Support failure investigations.
  • Lead or direct proposal efforts.
  • Identify and lead discipline initiatives and coordination meetings.
  • Expertly document work in digital systems, reports and presentations.
  • As required, present results and process capabilities to large diverse audiences that may include customer and industry technical experts.
  • Create training on cutting-edge advanced statistical processes.
  • Advocates for the discipline by expanding influence on non-traditional applications.
