About The Position

The IT Systems Administrator Lead - oversees the design, administration, and ongoing support of the organization’s hybrid and cloud-based Microsoft environments, including Hybrid Exchange, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, OneDrive and SharePoint Online. This role ensures systems are configured, secured, and maintained to meet business and user requirements while aligning with the organization’s overall IT architecture and operational standards.   The Lead provides technical oversight and approval of system designs, leads large-scale initiatives and migrations, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues. Recognized as a subject matter expert, this role drives best practices, mentors team members, and ensures the stability, performance, and security of identity, messaging, endpoint, and collaboration platforms.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience supporting and maintaining enterprise systems in a complex technical environment
  • Prior experience supporting collaboration platforms 

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience leading the administration of a Hybrid Exchange environment
  • Prior experience supporting tools such as MS 365, Exchange Online, Sharepoint Online, Teams, Entra ID, Intune

Responsibilities

  • Lead administration and support of a Hybrid Exchange environment, including mail flow, coexistence, migrations, and troubleshooting across on‑premises and Exchange Online.
  • Own and optimize the Microsoft 365 tenant, ensuring reliable operation of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and supporting services.
  • Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) identity and access services, including conditional access, identity lifecycle management, authentication policies, and hybrid identity synchronization.
  • Oversee Intune / Endpoint Manager for device enrollment, compliance, configuration, application deployment, and security baselines across Windows and mobile platforms.
  • Act as escalation lead for complex incidents, root cause analysis, and service restorations.
  • Lead platform upgrades, cloud adoption initiatives, and modernization efforts, including scripting and automation using PowerShell.
  • Define and maintain operational standards, security controls, documentation, and change management procedures.
  • Mentor and guide systems administrators, ensuring consistent implementation of best practices and technical growth.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to support audits, incident response, and zero‑trust initiatives.
