Job Title Lead Stress Engineer Job Requisition 1659.2361.3 / Req#14765 Job Location Houston, Texas Job Duties Develop work hour estimates, plans, and budgets for bids and assigned projects. Interpret project design standards and issue directives/design highlights to ensure consistency in application. Perform stress analysis. Review and update existing analyses of piping systems connected to critical rotating equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, filters, Compressors, tanks, Turbines, and Air coolers using Caesar II software to deliver piping in accordance with ASME codes, project standard, and project specifications. Perform Finite Element Analysis for special piping fittings for evaluating stress intensification factor “SIF” for determining fatigue failure. Perform dynamic modal analysis for calculating piping natural frequencies to prevent operational vibration issues, potential piping fatigue, and provide a safe plant. Evaluate calculated stress results, displacement stress range, and pipe support loads. Update, approve and seal engineering calculations for final turn-over to client. Review and approve project technical deliverables/documents. Collaborate with project managers and other design disciplines to address issues with piping documentation and/or design. Collaborate across engineering disciplines and with designers to resolve technical issues. Track and report progress during project execution. Provide technical guidance and review work of the piping team (engineers and designers), including those in HVEC’s. Mentor and guide team members to build technical knowledge and competency as it relates to piping. Job Requirements Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field followed by ten years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Lead Stress Engineer-related occupation.
