As Lead Stationary Engineer, you will inspect, operate and maintain various facility equipment throughout the hospital, such as HVAC, emergency power and fire protection systems. Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will offer initial resources for stationary engineering related questions and concerns. While you may not interact directly with patients and visitors, your efforts ultimately enhance their experience and promote the positive and safe Cleveland Clinic environment they have come to expect. A caregiver in this position works days, Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm, with rotational weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Third Class Stationary Engineers License from State of Ohio
  • Five years of experience in steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller systems, water distribution systems, cooling towers and/or air handling systems (One year of a Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program may offset for one year of experience requirement)
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to inspect equipment
  • Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fire protection equipment, building automation equipment, emergency generators and controls

Responsibilities

  • Will be assigned as a lead go-to contact within certain projects across the enterprise.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are communicated and upheld by staff.
  • Monitors department activities and provides coaching and feedback to team members when appropriate.
  • Operates a high-pressure, steam powerhouse.
  • Monitors and maintains HVAC related source and distribution equipment such as steam, chilled water, water chemistry, humidification and air handling, etc.
  • Monitors and responds to fire protection systems.
  • Responds to all emergency calls.
  • May test and monitor emergency generator and transfer equipment.
  • Assist co-workers with station engineering-related questions, comments and concerns in a Subject Matter Expert capacity.
