About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Technology as part of Consumer Technology and Generative AI. Wells Fargo's Consumer Technology team is building a new, world-class Generative AI Solution Engineering group to redefine how we create and deliver value to our customers. We are looking for passionate and experienced Lead Software Engineers to form the core leadership of our development pods. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be a player-coach, guiding a dedicated team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in hands-on coding and complex problem-solving. You will take ownership of key projects, translating architectural vision into tangible, high-quality software. This is a critical role where you will directly influence the success of our most ambitious Generative AI initiatives and mentor the next wave of engineering talent at Wells Fargo.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ Years of Lead experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Generative AI, LLMs, or Foundation models
  • 3+ years of experience with GenAI solutions using modern orchestration frameworks such as ADK, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience with either GCP, AZURE , Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • 2+ years of experience in Python.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, and network security in a public or hybrid cloud context.
  • Experience building and operating systems in a highly regulated industry (e.g., Financial Services).
  • Proven experience as a technical lead or architect, with a history of mentoring senior engineers.
  • Contributions to open-source projects in the AI/ML space.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
